CAROLYN STRIMIKE, MSN, RN, APRN is currently working as an advanced practice nurse in a Women’s Heart
Center in New Jersey.   Ms. Strimike graduated from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey where she was
awarded both a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a Master’s of Science degree in Nursing, Advanced
Practice, Adult Critical Care. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the national nursing honor society.  Ms. Strimike
has also received certification in critical care nursing from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and
certification as an acute care nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.  She is a member
of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the American College of Nurse Practitioners, the National Stroke
Association, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the Preventive Cardiovascular Nursing Association, the
American College of Cardiology and a member of the Cardiovascular Nursing Council of the American Heart
Association.  

Ms. Strimike has participated in dozens of cardiology research studies and has been published extensively in
professional journals. She has presented papers at more than 150 community and professional seminars. Ms.
Strimike received the Woman of Vision Award from William Paterson University, the William C. Gates Health and
Human Services Award from the Paterson NJ Rotary Club, and the "Go Red for Women" award from the Northern NJ
American Heart Association in recognition of her efforts to educate women about heart disease.
MARGIE LATRELLA, MSN, RN, APRN  is currently working as an advanced practice nurse in a Women’s Heart
Center in New Jersey.  Ms. Latrella received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Drew University, a Bachelor
of Science degree in Nursing from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Master of Science degree in Nursing from
Pace University.  She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the national nursing honor society.  Ms. Latrella has also
received certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center as well as
certification in Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Nursing.  Ms. Latrella is a member of the American Association of
Critical Care Nurses, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses
Association, the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the American Association of
Heart Failure Nurses and is a Life Member of the Saddle Brook Volunteer Ambulance Corps.  

Ms. Latrella has provided educational programs on women and heart disease at scores of community seminars
and professional programs and has co-authored several articles in nursing journals.  Ms. Latrella received the "Go
Red for Women" award from the Northern NJ American Heart Association in recognition of her efforts to educate
women about heart disease.
Carolyn Strimike and Margie Latrella are cardiac nurse practitioners specializing in the
prevention of heart disease and stroke.  They have over 40 years of nursing experience in
Cardiology between them.  The main goal of their work is to counsel, motivate and empower
women to adopt healthy lifestyle choices!  

Margie Latrella  RN, MSN, APN-C graduated from Drew University with her BA in Biology,
Fairleigh Dickinson University with her BS in Nursing and she received her Master’s in Nursing
from Pace University.  

Carolyn Strimike RN, MSN, APN-C graduated from Rutgers University where she received
both her BS in Nursing and her Master’s in Nursing.

They have lectured extensively throughout the United States on topics relating to heart
disease.  They have offered over 250 community lectures in an attempt to increase
awareness about heart disease prevention.  They have also presented at the American Heart
Association and American Stroke Association conferences to healthcare providers about
prevention, early detection and treatment of heart disease.  They have had several
publications in nursing journals on these topics as well.

They have both been recognized by the American Heart Association and the Women’s Heart
Foundation for their work in the field of women and heart disease.

Presently, they are working to educate women about heart disease, stroke and diabetes plus
help women identify their own risk factors for these conditions.
 
MICHAEL LATRELLA recently joined the HEARTSTRONG team as Vice President of Administration & Finance.  
Mr. Latrella earned an MSM degree from Stevens Institute of Technology.  He is a member of the Association for
Operations Management.  

He has over twenty years of operations and management experience in the medical device manufacturing
industry and also spent two decades in the Emergency Medical Services field.  

Mr. Latrella is the President of Dajami, Inc., a privately-held real estate investment company and is a licensed
NJ Real Estate Salesperson.
THOMAS LATRELLA is the newest member of the HEARTSTRONG team.  Mr. Latrella
brings extensive sales management experience to the organization.  As the Public
Relations Director, he is currently concentrating his efforts on an intensive regional
publicity campaign for Heartstrong.
